Upscale Virginia City Wedding | Reno – Tahoe Wedding Photographer

Kirk and Alexis are two New Yorker’s that decided to travel west to get married in Virginia City.  Growing up in Reno, Alexis always loved Virginia City and naturally shared it with Kirk.  The two decided to have their wedding at Mackay Mansion in Virginia City and embrace the Wild West.  Their wedding guests came from all over, but mainly from New York.  Alexis and Kirk, with the help of Allison Keasal of Forget Me Knot Events, created a day filled with surprises that were unique, true to them, and gave their guests a taste of the Wild West they won’t forget.

Every wedding is unique in its own way. The people involved, the location, the details are all things that set each wedding apart from another. It’s why I love photographing weddings so much and I never grow tired of my job.  Kirk and Alexis’s wedding was no exception. In fact, I would call their wedding an experience!  Their day included a shoot out, moments of a complete downpour that you never see in Nevada, two wedding dresses, a surprise performance of a journey song at the end of the ceremony, and New Yorker’s dressed in western wear like you’ve never seen before.  Here are some favorite photos that help tell the story of their fun-filled day . . .

The day started off with Kirk and Alexis getting ready in separate rooms at the Silverland Hotel in Virginia City.  Alexis wore a bracelet that is a family heirloom and chose a dress that was the same style her grandmother wore when she got married . . .

Kirk and Alexis chose to do a First Sight prior to their wedding ceremony and take a few photos around Virginia City and the Mackay Mansion . . .

I LOVE how Kirk and Alexis did things the way they wanted to on their wedding day.  They mixed up the order of the day and had a BBQ first with their guests before the ceremony.  Alexis wore an all white fringe dress for this portion of the day!

After the toasts, Alexis surprised all her guests including Kirk, with a shoot out.  Everyone had so much fun!  Then it was time to switch dresses quick and the ceremony to begin . . .

Kirk and Alexis’s day was filled with a lot of rain!  Luckily, they waited just long enough to have the ceremony out on the lawn overlooking the valley in Virginia City . . .

Another surprise Kirk and Alexis had for their guests was singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey at the end of their wedding ceremony.  It was complete with their wedding party dancing with fans, and their friend from New York coming down the aisle belting out the lyrics . . .

After the ceremony, the reception was filled with dancing and some delicious treats!

Congratulations to Kirk and Alexis!  Your wedding has truly been one of my favorites to photograph.  I loved everything about your day and getting to spend time with the two of you!
