Edgewood Lake Tahoe Wedding | Lake Tahoe Wedding Photography

I’m always excited to photograph a wedding at Edgewood in Lake Tahoe.  It is lovely venue and I like that it has a private beach to photograph at as well as evergreen trees and lush green areas.  Photographing at Edgewood several times prior to Steve and Melissa’s wedding day, I had everything all mapped out on where we were going to take pictures and had talked to Melissa in detail about a timeline and shot list.  However, like many weddings, not everything went as planned.  Things were behind schedule when I arrived and to top it off, a storm was moving in that made taking pictures outside really difficult because of the wind.  We didn’t have a lot of time to take pictures outside, but I thought we should go for it since it was what we had originally planned.  We only photographed Steve and Melissa alone for about 10 -12 minutes prior to family pictures and luckily, Melissa was on board with my plan.  I’m so glad she put her trust in me as we ventured out just beyond the entrance where we were a little bit protected from the wind.  And you know what?  It was M A G I C !  By running late, the light was even more beautiful by being later in the day.  The wind blew Melissa’s hair and veil that added more interest to the photographs as if we were on a commercial shoot for an editorial or fashion spread.  These aren’t the photographs and locations I had pictured in my head for Steve and Melissa’s wedding at Edgewood.  However, I think they may just be better and definitely give an accurate representation of their wedding day – one that they’ll never forget!

As Melissa was getting her hair and make-up done, we started with some pictures of her wedding dress inside the lobby at Edgewood . . .

A bonus of things running behind schedule?  Taking pictures of Melissa getting her hair and makeup done that we hadn’t originally planned on!

Then it was time to get her shoes and dress . . .

Steve and Melissa chose to do a First Look at Edgewood.  How great is Steve’s reaction to seeing his bride?

I think Melissa was pretty excited to see Steve as well . . .

Steve and Melissa did a great job at holding her veil  so it wouldn’t blow in the wind in these photographs.  The light was dreamy!

The ceremony had originally been planned to be outdoors on the deck at Edgewood, but due to the weather was moved inside.  The North Room made for a great Plan B!

Since we had photographed formal portraits prior to the ceremony, the reception started immediately afterwards.  The South Room at Edgewood looked fantastic.  Melissa and her mom created all of the centerpieces and tabletop designs.  It looked so great, I think they may need to go into the wedding planning business . . .

Catching these little moments is the best . . .

While dinner took place in the South Room at Edgewood . . .

. . . Steve and Melissa braved the wind for a second time to take a few quick pictures showing off Lake Tahoe and this dramatic stormy sky . . .

Then the fun really began with a few toasts . . .

. . . followed by the First Dance.

Steve and Melissa and their guests didn’t leave the  dance floor all night!  I loved getting to photograph Melissa dancing in such a fun dress!  I think it was meant to twirl in.  🙂

Congratulations Steve and Melissa!
