Many weekends during the year, I get to photograph weddings in Lake Tahoe where people travel to from all over the world to get married for their destination wedding. I admit that such a gorgeous backdrop gives me the ability to make images that many photographers would die to get to photograph at. However, I think I have found a destination that although very similar to Lake Tahoe with its evergreen trees and waterfront properties, is simply magical and even more breathtaking. When Molly asked me to make the trek to photograph her wedding at Roche Harbor in the San Juan Islands, I didn’t even know where the San Juan Islands were! I had to look it up and found that it is right on the U.S-Canada border off the Washington coast. I was immediately excited and honored to get to travel to the San Juan Islands…even if it was a a 10 hour trip between a plane ride, 3 shuttles, and 1 ferry ride! Roche Harbor reminded me so much of Cape Cod except with a little west coast flair. There were so many beautiful locations to take pictures at, that the hardest part of my job was simply trying to narrow down the locations that told the story of their wedding day. We tried to really pin down locations that made Roche Harbor unique and unlike any other destination.
Congratulations to you, Jorge and Molly! I am so honored that you had me come up to photograph your special day. You are such a beautiful couple and I am so glad that I got so play a small role in it. Special thanks to Angela Duggan who flew in all the way from Denver to photograph with me. There is not another person I would rather have by side to photograph with!
